Since I’ve finished finals, I’ve been hooked on another new anime, Sword Art Online. I heard it was really good, it’s the anime that EVERYONE was talking about in 2013.
(If you aren’t interested in learning what this anime is about and you want to read the main part of this post, skip this part)
It’s about a large group of people who test for a virtual reality game called Sword Art Online, but they become trapped in it during testing because the creator purposely didn’t make a Log Out button. They can’t leave, because the NerveGear that connects them to the world will fry their brains if anyone on the outside world tries removing it. If they die in the game (e.g. lose all their HP), they die in real life. To escape, they have to complete 100 floors/levels of the game, beating a boss each time. The game is just like any game you can think of: there’s HP, items, inventory, “guilds,” adding friends, levels, item names, etc.
Oh gawd what if that was us on Fantage?? Well I would first start a riot in Vintage Gold in an attempt to shut it down annnnddd….
Ok so anyway, what does this have to do with Fantage?
When I was watching, I felt that Asuna’s hair (she’s one of the main characters) was vaguely familiar, and I realized it was a hairdo on Fantage!
That’s Asuna (girl) and Kirito (boy), they’re the main characters (not gonna spoil anything just in case you want to watch it!). Here’s Asuna’s hair on Fantage, called “Sunshine Hair,” from September 2013
Pretty much the exact same, there’s the braid in the back, the color of the hair (in the anime, her hair is a lot more orange, the one on this post is fanart and the color is a bit off), and the bangs.
I don’t think this is the first time either, here are some other items that Fantage copied off and changed the name:
1. Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid) and Fantage’s J-Pop Star costume
2. Sailor Venus from the anime “Sailor Moon,” and Fantage’s “Orange Beauty” costume from September 2012
3. Oh, Sailor Moon too (this costume was from Dec 2012)
4. A bunch of costumes in Jester’s Costume shop (or used to be) are from Disney movies (Cinderella, Tinkerbell, Peter Pan)
You can see my “A Twist of Shakespeare” movie for the rest
So, I’m just wondering, why does Fantage copy the clothing design exactly, then give it a generic name instead of its original name? Do they want to avoid copyright problems?
I think it’s a bit wrong to do that… I’m all too familiar with this type of copying: people that steal things from my blog then change up some words and pretend that it’s theirs.
I’m sure this isn’t all of the copied items, I don’t watch that much anime. Those of you that are anime-lovers, have you realized any other clothing on Fantage that has copied from an anime?
I’m not accusing Fantage of anything, nor am I saying you should accuse them, I just thought this was really interesting 🙂
OMG PLS FANTAGE BRING SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN TO FANTAGE. I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU CALL THE ITEMS, CALL MIKASA “BLADES GIRL” AND LEVI “CRAVAT BOY” OR “CLEAN BOY” OR SOMETHING, JUST BRING ‘EM TO FANTAGE <33
If you do decide to, use my design ❤
